Liverpool Aim to Finalize First Summer Signing by End of May, Says Fabrizio Romano
Following a successful Premier League campaign, Liverpool are preparing for an active summer transfer window. The club plans to generate funds through player sales to support their recruitment plans, with a primary focus on bolstering their defense.
One of their top defensive targets is Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. However, he isn’t the only player from the south coast club under consideration. Liverpool are also pursuing Dean Huijsen and, according to Fabrizio Romano, they hope to secure his signing by the end of May to outpace rival clubs.
Romano, writing for GiveMeSport, emphasized the urgency of the deal, noting that Premier League clubs are pushing to finalize transfers this month. Huijsen has drawn attention from elite European clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, highlighting the competition for his signature.
Liverpool view the young defender as a valuable addition who can support veterans like Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth are reportedly preparing for Huijsen’s departure by identifying potential replacements. Should Liverpool complete the transfer, it would be a strong signal of their intent to rebuild and contend for major titles next season.
In addition to strengthening their defense, Liverpool are also eyeing midfield reinforcements, with Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton among their top targets.
