Mohamed Salah has finally addressed the long-rumored tension with his former Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane, shedding light on their relationship during their time at Anfield.
Salah, who has played alongside top talents like Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo, was also part of Liverpool’s iconic front three with Roberto Firmino and Mane. Together, the trio formed one of the most formidable attacking units in Premier League history.
Despite their success on the pitch, speculation about friction between Salah and Mane has persisted—especially after a visible disagreement during a match against Burnley. Now, Salah has confirmed that there was, in fact, tension between them.
“Yes, there was tension with Sadio,” Salah admitted. “But we stayed professional until the end. I don’t think it impacted the team. It’s natural—he’s a competitor and wanted to succeed. We weren’t close off the pitch, but we respected each other.”
Addressing accusations of being selfish, the 32-year-old Egyptian shrugged off criticism. “People can think what they like. But I’d point out I gave Mane more assists than anyone else—18 in total.”
Salah and Mane spent five seasons together before Mane transferred to Bayern Munich. During his time at Liverpool, Mane scored 120 goals in 268 appearances, winning the Premier League and several other major honors
