Toni Kroos to Return to Bernabéu for Special Legends Match
Former Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has announced that he will step onto the Santiago Bernabéu pitch once again for a special match featuring Real Madrid Legends against Borussia Dortmund Legends. The event, known as the Corazón Classic Match, will take place on June 7, 2025.
Kroos’ final official appearance for Real Madrid was in the 2024 UEFA Champions League final at Wembley, where Madrid secured a 2-0 win over Dortmund. He later represented Germany at the Euros before retiring from professional football. His last home match for Madrid came on May 25, 2024, in a goalless La Liga draw against Real Betis, where he wore the captain’s armband.
Confirming his participation in the upcoming legends game, Kroos posted on Instagram: “Bernabéu, I’ll see you again.”
Joining him will be other recently retired Madrid icons, including Iker Casillas, Pepe, and Marcelo. More legendary players are expected to be announced soon.
The Corazón Classic Match is organized annually by the Real Madrid Foundation, with proceeds supporting the club’s social projects.
Kroos’ Real Madrid Legacy
Kroos joined Real Madrid in 2014 from Bayern Munich for €25 million. He made an immediate impact, winning the UEFA Super Cup in his debut. His first La Liga appearance was against Cordoba, and he scored his first goal in a 5-1 win over Rayo Vallecano.
During his decade with the club, Kroos was a central figure in midfield, notably under Zinedine Zidane’s leadership. He played a crucial role in multiple trophy-winning campaigns, including the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League triumph.
By the end of his Real Madrid career, Kroos had collected 23 titles, contributed 28 goals, and provided 99 assists across 465 appearances.
