Kevin De Bruyne could be on the verge of a surprising change of plans in his transfer saga.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made the bold move to part ways with De Bruyne, deciding not to extend the 33-year-old midfielder’s contract, which ends in summer 2025.
Despite his age, De Bruyne remains a valuable asset, attracting interest from several top clubs. Liverpool is rumored to be a leading contender, especially as De Bruyne and his family are already well-settled in the North West.

Napoli has emerged as a serious suitor, reportedly offering him a two-year deal with performance bonuses. Italian outlet Il Mattino, via Gazzetta dello Sport, notes that the club is waiting on De Bruyne’s response, having already written a farewell message to Manchester City fans as his decade-long spell nears its end.
Yet, Liverpool’s offer is said to be a tempting one. While the current Premier League champions may not guarantee him a regular starting role, he could still play a vital impact role under new manager Arne Slot.
This season, De Bruyne has contributed four goals and seven assists in the league, although Guardiola has largely sidelined the Belgian star.
