While Atletico Madrid has shown strong interest — with Diego Simeone reportedly keen on the Uruguayan striker — Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have now emerged as contenders for his signature, according to TeamTalk.
Newcastle, the current Carabao Cup holders, are monitoring the situation as they may need to replace Alexander Isak. Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, could intensify their pursuit of Nunez if they qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Despite Chris Wood’s strong performances, Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is targeting a new striker, with Ademola Lookman and Viktor Gyokeres also on his radar.
Should Nunez depart, Liverpool would be forced to bring in a new forward — something that would likely align with Arne Slot’s vision for his squad.
