Arsenal Leading Race for Viktor Gyokeres Amid Competition from United and Liverpool

Arsenal are making significant progress in their efforts to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, currently ahead of other major Premier League clubs in the race. As reported by CaughtOffside, the Gunners are in advanced talks and have proposed a five-year deal worth around £9 million per year to the Swedish striker.

While Arsenal are currently favorites to land the prolific forward, both Manchester United and Liverpool remain interested and could still pose a threat to the North London club’s ambitions.

Sources suggest that Manchester United are readying their own offer, and Liverpool have already initiated contact as they look for a possible replacement for Darwin Nunez.

Gyokeres’ Form Draws Widespread Interest

Despite not yet playing in the Premier League or Europe’s top five leagues, Gyokeres has made a strong impression with his outstanding performances in Portugal. Since joining Sporting last season, the 26-year-old has scored an impressive 95 goals in 100 appearances.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has described Gyokeres as a “top player” (via Metro), and the striker is viewed as a more reliable goal scorer compared to current Arsenal forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, who have yet to achieve 25+ goal seasons.

Other Clubs Remain in Contention

Although Arsenal are currently in the lead, their rivals are not far behind. Gyokeres is reportedly keen to play in the Champions League, which could be a hurdle for United unless they win the Europa League and secure qualification.

Liverpool, having just claimed the Premier League title under new head coach Arne Slot, could offer a strong alternative, both in terms of success and long-term project potential.

Arsenal will need to move quickly to finalize the transfer before either United or Liverpool make a serious push
