Kevin De Bruyne’s upcoming departure from Manchester City has stirred up speculation about his next move, especially following comments that suggest he’s not ruling out a switch to another Premier League club — including rivals Liverpool.
The 33-year-old midfield star confirmed that he will leave City at the end of the season when his contract expires, ending a remarkable ten-year stint at the Etihad.
What caught many by surprise was De Bruyne’s openness to staying in England, provided the right opportunity arises. Despite acknowledging he’s no longer in his prime, the Belgian insists he can still perform at an elite level and is willing to consider offers that offer a strong sporting project.
Speaking with Jan Åge Fjørtoft, De Bruyne said:
“There’s always a new challenge. I don’t know what next season holds. If a team presents a compelling football project, I’ll listen. I may not be young anymore, but I believe I can still play at the highest level. I need to speak with my family first, and then we’ll decide. Right now, I honestly don’t know — it’s too early to say.”
His remarks have led to renewed speculation about a possible move to Liverpool, a club he has previously admired, as several top-flight teams could now pursue one of the Premier League’s most decorated players
