Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has openly expressed admiration for Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, hinting at possible summer transfer targets for the Catalan side.
While speaking about potential winger signings, Deco acknowledged that both Diaz and Rashford are on their radar. However, he avoided going into too much detail, citing respect for the fact that both players are still under contract with their respective clubs.
As quoted by Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter), Deco said:
“We like Luis Diaz, we like Rashford… and we like other wingers too. We can’t talk about players under contract with other clubs.”
Speculation continues over the futures of the two players. Rashford, having been loaned to Aston Villa after struggling for game time at Manchester United, may be available. In contrast, Diaz remains a key player at Liverpool, making a potential transfer less likely.
Barcelona already boasts quality wingers like Raphinha and rising star Lamine Yamal, which raises questions about how Diaz or Rashford would fit into the current squad.
Farrell Keeling of Empire of the Kop weighed in on Diaz’s situation, noting the depth Liverpool already has on the left wing with both Diaz and Cody Gakpo. He emphasized the importance of maintaining that balance under new manager Arne Slot.
Keeling acknowledged that while Diaz has shown interest in a potential move to Barcelona, the Colombian winger is also open to renewing his contract with Liverpool, which runs until 2027. However, financial constraints could limit Barcelona’s ability to make a serious offer
