Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool made a contract offer on Wednesday.
While Richard Hughes has successfully extended Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s contracts for a few more years, Liverpool may soon need to negotiate extensions with other players, including Ibrahima Konate.
Konate’s current contract expires in 13 months, and unless Liverpool secures a new deal soon, he could leave. After an initial offer this winter didn’t meet his expectations, clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring the situation (L’Equipe).
Romano reveals Liverpool contract offer for Wellity Lucky
Despite the ongoing stalemate with Konate, Liverpool has offered a new long-term contract to a promising young defender.
On Wednesday, Romano tweeted: “Liverpool have offered a new 4-year contract to 19-year-old talented centre-back Wellity Lucky. His current deal expires this summer, and Liverpool want to keep him despite interest from clubs in Spain and Germany.”

Though the Spain U17 international has yet to be included in a senior matchday squad at Anfield, the club clearly sees great potential in him by offering a lengthy deal to avoid losing him on a free transfer this summer.
This season, Lucky made nine appearances in Premier League 2 for Liverpool’s U21 team and played consistently in the UEFA Youth League (Transfermarkt). He may also have the chance to join the first team’s pre-season tour to Asia in July to impress the new manager Arne Slot.
Liverpool youth coach Barry Lewtas praised Lucky and Amara Nallo, who played against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League in January, describing their partnership as ‘rock solid’ against top European attacking sides (Liverpool Echo).
Though Lucky is not yet ready for a full first-team breakthrough, the contract offer indicates that Liverpool sees enough in him to secure his future. They may loan him out next season to gain valuable senior experience.
Hopefully, the talented Spaniard will sign soon, and that Konate’s contract situation will be resolved shortly afterward.
