Garnacho Praises Spurs Star After UEL Final Loss
Manchester United’s attempt to end a disappointing season on a high fell short as they lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final. The only goal came just before halftime, with Brennan Johnson scoring for Spurs, helping them qualify for the 2025/26 Champions League despite a poor Premier League campaign.
Following the match, United winger Alejandro Garnacho, who came on in the 71st minute, praised Spurs defender Cristian Romero. Garnacho called his fellow Argentine “the best centre-back in the world” and congratulated him on the win.
Romero delivered a strong performance, completing 90 minutes with 10 clearances, a 92% pass accuracy, and dominance in duels. He also had a heated exchange with Harry Maguire after the final whistle.
Despite his solid form, Romero could leave Spurs this summer amid rising interest from clubs like Atletico Madrid. He’s previously expressed a desire to play in La Liga before retiring.
Meanwhile, questions loom over United manager Ruben Amorim’s future, as pressure mounts following the defeat and lack of silverware. Garnacho’s future at the club also remains uncertain.
