Hansi Flick Surprises by Targeting a New Star Winger for Barcelona

Following a triumphant season where Barcelona claimed a domestic treble—winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup—the club now shifts focus to its ultimate goal: conquering the Champions League. With this heightened ambition, sporting director Deco and coach Hansi Flick are actively reinforcing the squad to ensure competitiveness at the highest level in Europe. They aim not just for technical upgrades, but for players who align with Barcelona’s attacking philosophy and bring unity to the team.

While speculation had centered around top names like Nico Williams, Luis Díaz, and Rafael Leão, Spanish outlet El Nacional reports a surprising twist: Deco is eyeing Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman as a potential signing.

At 26, Lookman has impressed in Serie A with Atalanta, showcasing speed, technical flair, and an increasing knack for scoring. His ability to challenge defenses from the flanks, support team play, and find space in the box makes him an attractive target for Barça.

His Champions League experience and ability to play on both wings fit perfectly with Flick’s tactical vision. Notably, Lookman comes at a more affordable price—around €30–35 million—much lower than other rumored targets, giving Barcelona financial flexibility to strengthen elsewhere.

Crucially, Lookman is seen as a complementary addition rather than a marquee figure, preserving harmony in a squad already featuring Raphinha and rising star Lamine Yamal. His arrival would boost depth and provide crucial options in decisive matches, enhancing Barcelona’s chances of securing European glory next season.
