Liverpool Set to Face Crystal Palace in First Fixture of 2025/26 Season After Title Win

Liverpool now know their first competitive opponent for the 2025/26 season, following their Premier League triumph under manager Arne Slot. The Reds will take on Crystal Palace in the Community Shield after the Eagles secured the FA Cup last weekend.

Slot, in his debut Premier League season, led Liverpool to their 20th league title, ending Manchester City’s period of dominance with a strong and consistent campaign. The title will be officially celebrated at Anfield this Sunday, with fans witnessing the trophy lift.

With the season wrapping up, Liverpool’s next confirmed match will be the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on either August 9 or 10. This traditional opener features the Premier League champions against the FA Cup winners. If the same team wins both competitions, the league runners-up participate instead.

Crystal Palace claimed their place in the match with a 1-0 FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, thanks to a first-half goal from Eberechi Eze. Their win also prevented City from appearing in their fifth straight Community Shield.

While the exact kickoff time is yet to be confirmed, the Community Shield typically occurs a week before the new Premier League season begins. The opening league fixtures will take place between August 15 and 18, with Liverpool’s full fixture list set to be unveiled on Wednesday, June 18. The Champions League draw for the league phase is scheduled for Thursday, August 28.
