Athletic Club coach Ernesto Valverde has addressed rumors linking Nico Williams to a move to Barcelona,

Downplaying the speculation by stating that the club is very pleased with Williams and believes the feeling is mutual. Valverde expressed confidence that the winger will stay with the team into the 2025/26 season.

Although both Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly tracking the Spanish international—who has a €58 million release clause and is under contract until 2027—Valverde emphasized that Williams appears content at Bilbao.

Williams is seen as a top option for Barcelona to strengthen their left wing, along with Liverpool’s Luis Díaz and Aston Villa’s Marcus Rashford. However, Athletic Club’s firm position and Williams’ satisfaction at San Mames could complicate any potential move.

Valverde also previewed their upcoming La Liga clash with Barcelona, recognizing them as the top team in the league, especially in away games, but remains hopeful for a strong showing at home to wrap up the season on a high note
