BREAKING: Alejandro Garnacho Agrees to Arsenal Move in Principle
Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly reached a preliminary agreement with Arsenal on a five-year deal worth €120,000 per week, according to recent reports.
The Manchester United winger is set to leave Old Trafford after head coach Ruben Amorim instructed him over the weekend to find a new club. Although Garnacho resisted a January transfer and fought to stay, his time at United appears to be over.
Now, Garnacho’s representatives are actively searching for his next destination. While his contract runs until 2028, which means United could demand a substantial fee, one potential landing spot is Arsenal.
With Arsenal currently seeking a new left winger, Garnacho’s camp has approached the club to indicate his availability. Believing he suits Arsenal’s style and needs, his representatives are hoping to facilitate a move to North London.
However, Arsenal has yet to show concrete interest. The Gunners are also evaluating other winger targets, including Rafael Leao (AC Milan), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund), Nico Williams (Athletic Club), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta), Mohammed Kudus (West Ham), and Anthony Gordon (Newcastle).
If Arsenal passes, Garnacho has other options. Napoli—who had considered him in January—and Atletico Madrid, where he played during his youth, are reportedly interested. Napoli is seen as the current frontrunner but may offer closer to £50 million, while United want £60 million.
Man Utd Set for Major Squad Changes
United are preparing for a significant overhaul following their Europa League final defeat and failure to qualify for Europe. Alongside Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo is another likely departure. The club also plans to release Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, and Victor Lindelof and may seek to sell Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho.
While captain Bruno Fernandes is a player the club wants to keep, he’s being tempted by a lucrative offer elsewhere.
