Liverpool Eye Swap Deal with Barcelona Involving Luis Diaz and Frenkie de Jong

Barcelona’s interest in Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has been ongoing for months, and it’s intensifying as the summer transfer window nears. Diaz’s father has previously mentioned that playing for Barcelona would be a dream come true for his son.

Although there’s been consistent talk about a potential move, it’s still uncertain if Diaz will leave Liverpool. Recent updates suggest that while his agents may enter talks with the club over a contract extension, a transfer remains a possibility.

Currently a key figure in Liverpool’s squad, Diaz has a valuation of €80 million (£67 million), and the club is unwilling to go below that amount, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. Barcelona is eager to sign him, but that price tag is proving too steep. As a result, they’re reportedly considering player-swap options to make the deal more viable.

Liverpool has long admired Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. Including him in a deal for Diaz could pave the way for negotiations. Earlier this month, Spanish media claimed Liverpool would be ready to offer €40 million (£34 million) for the Dutch international.

With De Jong’s contract expiring next summer, Barcelona may look to offload him now to avoid losing him for free in 2026. Given their interest in Diaz, a swap deal involving De Jong and cash could be their best route to making the transfer happen.
