Tebas Reacts to Xabi Alonso’s Likely Appointment at Real Madrid: “It Seems Very Good to Me”

With Carlo Ancelotti officially named as the new coach of Brazil’s national team, Real Madrid is preparing for a significant change in leadership.

Failing to win any of the three major tournaments this season has been seen as a major disappointment for the club, contributing to the need for new direction. Real Madrid’s struggles in El Clasico and overall inconsistency have also led to the likely appointment of Xabi Alonso as head coach.

Tebas Shares His Thoughts

Speaking to the media, La Liga president Javier Tebas expressed his support for the idea of Alonso returning to coach in Spain.

“Real Madrid believes Xabi Alonso is their best option, and I’m happy for him,” Tebas said. “I’m glad he’s returning to Spanish football and to a big club—his club.”

He added, “I think it’s a great decision. These are choices made by the club, and I respect that.”

Tebas praised Alonso’s recent achievements as well, noting: “Winning the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen over Bayern Munich is no small feat.”

Alonso is expected to take over at Real Madrid early next month, just ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. The club is already working to secure the signings Alonso has requested to support his vision and help him succeed in his new role.
