With their Premier League triumph now behind them, Liverpool are turning their attention to the summer transfer window. Under new head coach Arne Slot, the club is expected to undergo a significant squad overhaul in preparation for next season.
Despite uncertainties surrounding the transfer budget—particularly with several key players departing—Liverpool are still anticipated to pursue a number of major signings as they look to stay competitive at the top of English football.
Jeremie Frimpong: First Big Signing
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure on a free transfer left a gap at right-back. That gap could soon be filled by Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Liverpool have activated his €35 million release clause.
Frimpong could either become the immediate starter or share minutes with Conor Bradley, but his arrival is a big win for Slot’s first campaign at Anfield.
Florian Wirtz on the Radar
Another Bayer Leverkusen star, Florian Wirtz, is also being closely linked with Liverpool, despite interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester City. Reports suggest the 22-year-old attacking midfielder favors a move to Anfield, with a fee likely exceeding £120 million—potentially a club-record deal.
Wirtz’s flexibility offers Slot multiple tactical options: he could operate as a central attacking midfielder or even in a false nine role, which might affect players like Diogo Jota or Darwin Núñez.
Wirtz stands out statistically as well. He’s one of just two Bundesliga players (alongside Michael Olise) to post double digits in both goals (10) and assists (12) this season. Only he and Mohamed Salah have achieved this two seasons in a row across Europe’s top five leagues.
Milos Kerkez Set to Reinforce Left-Back
With Andy Robertson battling injuries and age, and Kostas Tsimikas underperforming, Liverpool are eyeing Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez. The Hungarian international has reportedly agreed personal terms, and a transfer deal is progressing.
If Tsimikas moves on, Kerkez is expected to take over the starting role, with Robertson becoming a seasoned backup in Slot’s revamped defense.
