In a tragic incident during Liverpool FC’s Premier League title celebration on May 26, 2025, a vehicle plowed into a crowd on Water Street, injuring 47 people, including four children. The collision occurred around 6 p.m., shortly after the team’s victory bus had passed.
Merseyside Police have arrested a 53-year-old white British man from Liverpool, believed to be the driver of the grey Ford Galaxy involved. Authorities have confirmed the incident is being treated as an isolated case with no links to terrorism.
Emergency crews, including Merseyside Fire and Rescue, acted quickly, rescuing four people—among them a child—who were trapped beneath the vehicle. Twenty-seven victims were taken to the hospital, with two, including one child, in serious condition. Another 20 people received minor treatment on-site.
Witnesses described scenes of panic and horror, with one individual recalling the disturbing sound of people being struck by the vehicle.
