Liverpool Target Highly-Rated Leipzig Defender Castello Lukeba

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba, according to TEAMtalk. The club has made initial enquiries about the 22-year-old Frenchman, who has a £74.5 million release clause in his contract. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will take the next step and submit an official bid.

Bundesliga Talent in Liverpool’s Sights

Manager Arne Slot is said to be a big admirer of Lukeba, who is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders. Liverpool have already been linked with Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from the Bundesliga, and Lukeba could be the next addition to their summer transfer targets.

Peter Bosz, the current PSV manager, has previously praised Lukeba, describing him as a player with “real talent and real potential.”

A Potential Successor to Konaté?

There’s growing speculation about the future of Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract runs until 2026 but has yet to agree on an extension. Should he leave, Lukeba could step in as a like-for-like replacement.

Joining Liverpool would represent a significant step forward for Lukeba. With a strong squad and ambitions for major trophies, the Premier League giants are an attractive destination for top talent.

Lukeba is also reportedly on the radar of Manchester United and Real Madrid, so his final destination could depend on which club makes the most compelling offer.
