Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is set to appear on TV screens once again this weekend, joining TNT Sports as a pundit for their coverage of the Champions League final. Gerrard, who previously managed Rangers and Aston Villa, has been without a full-time managerial role since departing Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq earlier this year.
Recent speculation has linked Gerrard with a return to Rangers, where he previously led the club to a Scottish Premiership title. He was recently spotted in Liverpool during Sky Sports’ broadcast of the Premier League finale between Liverpool and Crystal Palace, celebrating the beginning of Arne Slot’s tenure.
Now, TNT Sports has announced Gerrard will be part of their broadcast team for the Champions League final between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain in Munich, Germany. He’ll be joined by fellow pundit Rio Ferdinand, who is set to leave TNT Sports at the end of the season.
Since retiring from professional football, Gerrard has regularly appeared on TV, notably with BT Sport during their European football coverage, although his media appearances have become more occasional during his coaching career.
This latest TV appearance comes during a significant year for Liverpool, marking the anniversary of their 2005 Champions League triumph, where Gerrard famously led the comeback against AC Milan in Istanbul. He also features prominently in a new TNT Sports documentary recounting that historic night.
Meanwhile, rumors continue to swirl about a possible return to management with Rangers. TalkSPORT’s Jim White recently reported that Gerrard is close to rejoining the Scottish side, potentially bringing in former teammates Steven Davis and Jordan Henderson to assist him.
White said:
“Things are moving quickly behind the scenes. Interim manager Barry Ferguson will depart with thanks, and Gerrard is expected to return. Alongside him could be Steven Davis and Jordan Henderson, who would both serve as assistants.”
