Following Alonso’s official appointment as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor, preparations are underway for the FIFA Club World Cup in June 2025.
Renowned for his work with young players at Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso aims to integrate more academy graduates from La Fábrica into the senior team, especially to strengthen the squad’s options in the pivot role.
Chema, who was previously coached by Alonso at the Infantil A level, has shown promise under Raul at Castilla and already made brief appearances in La Liga and the Copa del Rey under Ancelotti.
His development in the pivot position could help fill a critical gap in the squad.
Also under consideration are 20-year-old defender Jacobo Ramon—who scored a dramatic late winner on his La Liga debut against Mallorca—and 17-year-old centre-back Joan Martinez. Both players are familiar to Alonso from his earlier work within Real Madrid’s youth setup and may feature more prominently next season
