Ancelotti on Choosing Brazil: “They’re the Best National Team in the World”
Carlo Ancelotti has shared why he accepted the role of Brazil’s national team coach, describing it as an opportunity he simply couldn’t turn down.
“It’s straightforward — Brazil is the best national team in the world. That’s not just my opinion; the five stars on their badge say it all,” Ancelotti told Marca. “No one else can match that legacy. Now the goal is to win a sixth.”
When asked why he left Real Madrid before the Club World Cup, Ancelotti admitted the team’s performance had fallen short of expectations: “Results didn’t meet our hopes, and our overall play wasn’t convincing. It was time for a change.”
He added that the decision came after their Champions League tie with Arsenal: “We had conversations after that match and came to the conclusion together. The team’s condition made it clear — it was time for Madrid to go in a new direction, and for me to pursue a new challenge with Brazil.”
Meanwhile, FIFA has opened an investigation into a reported €1.2 million payment to an intermediary involved in Ancelotti’s deal with Brazil.
