Liverpool are continuing efforts to secure the futures of their key squad members.
Following the contract renewals of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, the club is now shifting attention to Luis Diaz. According to the Daily Mail, formal negotiations over a new deal for the Colombian winger are expected to begin after the current season ends.
Diaz, who arrived from FC Porto in January 2022, has quickly become a fan favorite and an important player. He played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup and FA Cup victories shortly after joining and has been instrumental in their recent title-winning campaign under Arne Slot, scoring 12 Premier League goals — his highest in a top-flight season.
Although Diaz is under contract until 2027, Liverpool want to offer him a new deal to deter interest from abroad, particularly from Saudi and Spanish clubs.
The club values Diaz highly and sees him as a vital part of their future. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker recently called him an “excellent player.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool appear to be conceding that Trent Alexander-Arnold may leave for Real Madrid. In response, they are focusing on renewing deals with other key players, including Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract is nearing its final year.
