Bruno Fernandes Considering Saudi Move as Agent Holds Talks
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is seriously weighing up a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, according to The Athletic. The Portuguese star has received a lucrative offer and is said to be more open to the move after his agent was spotted in Saudi Arabia for discussions.
United just endured their worst Premier League season in modern history, finishing 15th and missing out on all trophies after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur. With no European football next season, Fernandes’ future has become uncertain.
Sources tell GiveMeSport that Al-Hilal is ready to offer Fernandes around £65 million annually, and are also prepared to pay Manchester United approximately £100 million for the transfer. Fernandes currently earns £350,000 per week at United but would earn significantly more tax-free in Saudi Arabia.
Following the season’s end, Fernandes stated he would leave if the club wanted him to and declined to guarantee staying past the summer. He’s reportedly been given a 72-hour deadline to decide.
New United manager Ruben Amorim wants to keep his fellow Portuguese international as part of his squad rebuild, but Fernandes’ departure is now a real possibility. Meanwhile, United are close to completing their first signing of the summer with Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, who is awaiting a visa before completing his medical.
