According to James Pearce, negotiations between Liverpool and Leverkusen are nearly finalized, while David Ornstein stated on The Athletic FC Podcast that the deal is close to completion.

Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail corroborates this, quoting German sources who say the move is “99% complete.” If finalized, the 22-year-old midfielder would become Liverpool’s most expensive signing ever, thanks to a performance-based contract structure.

The German international is said to be enthusiastic about the transfer, with many now viewing it as a matter of when, not if. This optimism is shared by fans, especially after the club’s previous transfer disappointments involving Moises Caicedo and Martin Zubimendi.
