Ibrahima Konaté praises Lamine Yamal ahead of Nations League semi-final: ‘A genius’

France defender Ibrahima Konaté has shared his thoughts on Spain’s attacking strength as both nations prepare for their Nations League semi-final clash.

“They’ve got plenty of talent. For us, it’s all about sticking together and staying organized,” Konaté commented. “We also have high-quality attacking players — maybe even better ones. It’s going to be a fierce battle,” he added with a grin.

When asked about Lamine Yamal, the rising star from Barcelona, Konaté didn’t hold back in his admiration: “He’s a genius. What he’s achieved this season is extraordinary.”

As for dealing with Yamal on the pitch, Konaté admitted, “I haven’t really thought much about how to stop him one-on-one — it’s not that simple. Football is a team sport, so it won’t be just about Yamal, but Spain as a whole.”

The Nations League semi-final between Spain and France is scheduled to take place this Thursday in Stuttgart.
