Milos Kerkez appears to be on the verge of joining Liverpool, with a deal reportedly nearing completion.
On Wednesday morning, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated that Liverpool are preparing one final round of negotiations with Bournemouth for the Hungarian left-back. Personal terms with Kerkez have already been agreed upon.
Following the recent acquisition of Jeremie Frimpong to bolster the right side of their defence, Liverpool now seem ready to strengthen the left flank as well.
What’s the latest on the Kerkez deal?
According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, Liverpool have reached a £40 million agreement with Bournemouth — a figure that’s £5 million higher than their initial offer but still £10 million short of Bournemouth’s original asking price. The transfer could be completed in the coming days.
Bailey also reported that all aspects of the deal are in place, with Kerkez already scheduled for a medical. Liverpool are hoping to finalise everything by the weekend. The 21-year-old is reportedly eager to join the Reds, having turned down offers from several other clubs in favour of a move to Anfield.
What would Kerkez add to Liverpool?
New head coach Arne Slot, after a full season of assessing the squad left by Jurgen Klopp, is beginning to implement his own vision for the team.
Frimpong is expected to slot into the starting right-back role, supported by Conor Bradley. On the left, Kerkez’s arrival could potentially spell the end of Kostas Tsimikas’s time at the club.
Earlier this year, Opta analyst Matt Furniss noted Kerkez’s strengths in a premierleague.com feature — especially his overlapping runs and quality crosses from open play, which ranked him among the Premier League’s top-performing left-backs in the 2024/25 campaign.
With Andy Robertson’s attacking contributions having declined — just four assists since the beginning of the 2023/24 season — Kerkez could bring renewed energy and attacking threat to the left flank, giving Slot a fresh and dynamic option.
