Liverpool Player Poised to Exit as Arne Slot Record Bid for Florian Wirtz

Just as Liverpool ramped up their efforts to sign German sensation Florian Wirtz, one of their current stars is reportedly on the verge of leaving.

Liverpool have recently been strongly pursuing Bayer Leverkusen’s Wirtz. On Friday night, The Times’ Paul Joyce reported that the Reds submitted a £113 million bid—£100 million upfront and £13 million in potential add-ons—continuing discussions between the two clubs.

Shortly after this news emerged, reports indicated that Federico Chiesa could be on his way out of Anfield. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chiesa is prioritizing a move back to Italy. While he still holds Liverpool in high regard, a lack of playing time has made him consider offers from Serie A clubs, who are now exploring a possible deal.

Chiesa, 27, joined Liverpool from Juventus last summer in a transfer worth around £10 million. However, injuries hampered his season, limiting him to just 14 appearances in all competitions, during which he scored twice and assisted twice under new boss Arne Slot.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport (as cited by The Express), Chiesa opened up about his struggles in England. He admitted that arriving late in the summer without a preseason made adapting difficult, especially given the fierce competition in Liverpool’s attack, with players like Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz, and Cody Gakpo ahead of him.

Despite his challenges, Chiesa insisted he remained dedicated to the team, putting the squad’s needs above his personal ambitions.
