Napoli Show Interest in Chelsea’s Noni Madueke, Sporting Director Travels to London
A top club from one of Europe’s elite leagues is reportedly eyeing a major Chelsea player as a key target for the summer transfer window.
According to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are actively pursuing Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, who has seen limited opportunities under new manager Enzo Maresca. The Italian club’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, has allegedly traveled to London to initiate talks and assess the potential for a transfer.
Throughout the 2024/25 season, Maresca preferred using players like Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, and Madueke in attack. Madueke impressed with his performances, earning praise and comparisons to Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka by former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy.
Now, Napoli have expressed serious interest in signing the England international. While Newcastle United have also shown interest, they may now face strong competition from the Serie A champions.
Reports suggest that Manna has already held discussions with intermediaries to understand the financial aspects of the deal. Chelsea are believed to value Madueke at around £50 million—significantly more than the £29 million they paid to PSV Eindhoven in early 2023.
Despite Madueke scoring 11 goals in 41 appearances last season, Chelsea are reportedly willing to part ways with the 23-year-old, citing a perceived plateau in his development. The club is in the process of revamping its attacking options, especially with Jadon Sancho returning to Manchester United and Mykhailo Mudryk still sidelined due to suspension.
Brazilian prospect Estevão Willian is expected to join the first team soon, and additional signings are anticipated, potentially opening the door for Madueke’s departure.
If Napoli agree to Chelsea’s valuation, the transfer could progress swiftly. With the summer window still in its early stages, speculation around Madueke’s future is likely to persist.
