Liverpool in Talks with Star Striker Victor Osimhen Over Summer Move

Liverpool have reportedly initiated discussions with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen regarding a potential summer transfer, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

The Premier League champions are in the market for a new first-choice striker under new manager Arne Slot, and Osimhen is seen as a strong candidate. While Newcastle’s Alexander Isak remains their top priority, Osimhen—who is reportedly seeking £400,000 per week—could be a more attainable option. Napoli are open to selling the 26-year-old forward, who has just one year left on his contract.

Osimhen, recently described as “the best striker in the world,” previously turned down an offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal and has also drawn interest from Turkish side Galatasaray, where he spent last season on loan.

The Nigerian international is believed to be interested in a move to the Premier League. Talks have taken place with both Liverpool and Manchester United in recent weeks. Chelsea, despite showing interest last year, appear to have cooled their pursuit after signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.

Napoli are hoping to secure a significant fee for Osimhen, who has a £63 million release clause. Although Al-Hilal was willing to meet that price, Osimhen is currently prioritizing a move within Europe rather than heading to the Middle East.

Liverpool have already confirmed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong as their first addition of the summer. They’re also working quickly to wrap up deals for Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, with Wirtz expected to command a British-record fee of around €150 million
