Liverpool is reportedly closing in on the signing of Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
The newly crowned Premier League champions are expected to hold further talks this week about securing the Hungarian international, with sources indicating there’s a “very strong chance” the deal will be finalized soon.
Kerkez is believed to have already agreed on personal terms with Liverpool, with negotiations between the clubs the only remaining hurdle.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, is preparing for life after Kerkez by targeting Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert as his potential replacement. The 21-year-old is set to leave Bournemouth after two seasons, having significantly raised his profile under manager Andoni Iraola.
Talks Advancing for Milos Kerkez Move
David Ornstein reports that discussions involving Liverpool, Bournemouth, and Kerkez’s camp are scheduled this week, which could lead to a breakthrough:
“Talks are set for this week between Liverpool, Bournemouth, and Milos Kerkez’s representatives. There’s a strong likelihood that an agreement will be reached for him to join Liverpool.”
Bournemouth is expected to finalize a deal for Truffert only if Kerkez’s transfer to Anfield goes through.
Kerkez is seen as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, who recently turned 31 and has just over a year left on his current deal. The Hungarian full-back has quickly become one of the Premier League’s top young defenders, significantly increasing his value since joining Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar for around £15.5 million. Reports suggest his move to Liverpool could cost close to £40 million.
