Liverpool may have to shell out over £100 million to secure one of their top transfer targets this summer, according to recent reports.
The Reds are expected to be busy in the transfer market, with several positions — especially in defence and attack — likely to be reinforced due to possible player departures.
One notable exit could be Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. If that happens, Liverpool may need a new right-back. Although they have faith in Conor Bradley and alternatives like Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah, those players might be used in a potential deal to land striker Alexander Isak — further increasing the need for a right-back.
Manager Arne Slot is reportedly prioritizing the signing of Givario Read from Feyenoord, over other options like Jeremie Frimpong.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also looking to bolster their left-back options and are aiming to sign a new central defender.
In attack, the Reds have shown interest in Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling. Despite Southampton’s poor form, Dibling has been a standout performer this season. His potential has caught the attention of several clubs, with Liverpool among 14 teams that have reportedly made inquiries, as per the Daily Mail.
Liverpool scouts were recently seen watching Dibling in an England U-19 match against Wales. However, Southampton’s valuation may deter potential buyers. According to The Telegraph, the Saints want over £100 million — even more than what Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish in 2021.
Given Dibling’s current stats — four goals in 30 appearances — and Liverpool’s prudent financial strategy, it seems unlikely the club will engage in negotiations at that price point unless circumstances change
