One of Liverpool’s most promising young talents, known for scoring 90 goals in just one year, has shared what it’s like growing up as the son of a Premier League fan-favorite.
Keyrol Figueroa, an 18-year-old forward who plays for the United States youth teams, has been making waves in Liverpool’s academy with his impressive scoring record over recent seasons.
Figueroa signed his first professional contract in May last year and is now striving to break into the top level of the sport.
In an interview with Liverpool’s official site, the Honduras-born player reflected on his upbringing alongside his father, Maynor Figueroa—a well-known figure in English football thanks to his time at Wigan Athletic and Hull City, before moving to MLS side Colorado Rapids.
“I spent some time in the U.S., but I wanted to really chase my football dream, so I convinced my parents to bring me back to England to try out for clubs,” he explained.
“Becoming a footballer felt inevitable for me—it was part of who I was. The professionalism, the experiences from traveling, and watching my dad’s games, all of it shaped me.”
“It’s something I’ve always wanted—to live that life and perform at the highest level. I also want to repay my parents for all the sacrifices they made, both on and off the pitch.”
