Liverpool are preparing for a busy summer transfer window as they aim to reshape their squad.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Real Madrid, the Reds responded by signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen to bolster their defense. Additionally, Florian Wirtz is reportedly on the verge of a club-record move to Anfield.
The club is also pursuing Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, with negotiations currently ongoing. Furthermore, Liverpool are exploring options to strengthen their central defense, with Sporting’s Goncalo Inacio among the targets.
Another potential addition is a Premier League winger—Liverpool are reportedly keeping an eye on Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle may consider selling Gordon if Liverpool submit an offer in the range of £75–80 million. Journalist Pete O’Rourke noted that Liverpool’s interest hinges on several variables.
“If Luis Diaz departs—whether to Barcelona, the Saudi Pro League, or another destination—Liverpool will need a new left winger,” said O’Rourke. “Gordon was close to joining Liverpool last summer when Newcastle faced financial constraints due to PSR regulations. The Reds have monitored him ever since.”
While Gordon is a crucial player for Eddie Howe’s squad and recently signed a long-term deal, Newcastle are not eager to part with him. Still, a significant bid could change their stance.
With Champions League qualification easing Newcastle’s financial pressures, they’re in no rush to sell key players. Any potential deal for Gordon would be difficult and costly.
Gordon, 24, is admired for his high work rate, goal-scoring ability, and adaptability—qualities Liverpool are looking for in a winger who can aid in defense and quick transitions. The Reds have shown interest in him previously, and depending on player departures this summer, that interest may soon intensify.
For now, Liverpool remain focused on finalizing deals for Wirtz and Kerkez before pursuing further moves
