In this context, Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone confirmed that Barcelona is among the clubs interested in signing Argentine striker Julián Álvarez, who had an outstanding season with Atlético after joining from Manchester City last summer.
In an interview with Atlético Universe, Simeone expressed pride in Álvarez’s performances and acknowledged the increasing interest from Europe’s biggest clubs, led by Barcelona.
“He’s one of ours, and we have to protect him,” Simeone said, emphasizing his support for the 25-year-old striker. “He’s an exceptional player—humble, hardworking, and a natural goal scorer. It’s no surprise that top clubs are after him.”
Simeone also added candidly, “If we don’t win any major titles next season, Álvarez will likely move to Barcelona to pursue his ambitions of winning trophies and individual honors.”
