Barcelona Monitoring Kevin Lomonaco for Potential Defensive Signing – Report
FC Barcelona are reportedly considering a move for 23-year-old defender Kevin Lomonaco from Independiente as they evaluate potential changes to their backline.
The Argentine centre-back, under contract until December 2028, has attracted attention from European clubs. His release clause is set at $20 million—a relatively modest sum by European standards.
Independiente’s general secretary, Daniel Seoane, commented that unless a compelling offer comes from Europe, Lomonaco is likely to remain with the club.
Barcelona’s interest could solidify if either Ronald Araujo or Andreas Christensen departs this summer. Araujo, though contracted until 2031, has seen reduced minutes under new manager Hansi Flick. Christensen, with one year left on his deal, has been dealing with ongoing fitness issues.
Lomonaco is being viewed as a cost-effective replacement option should either defender leave.
In other news, Barcelona earned €400,000 from the recent transfer of Álex Collado to Al Shamal in Qatar.
