Barcelona Shows Interest in 23-Year-Old Argentine Defender Kevin Lomónaco
Barcelona is reportedly eyeing Argentine centre-back Kevin Lomónaco, currently on loan at Independiente from Red Bull Bragantino. According to football journalist Eduardo Inda (via El Chiringuito), Lomónaco could become a target if Barcelona chooses to sell one of their current defenders, Ronald Araújo or Andreas Christensen.
However, the deal could be complicated. Independiente owns 75% of the player’s rights, while Bragantino holds the remaining 25%. Independiente has just extended Lomónaco’s contract until December 2028 and raised his salary, indicating they won’t let him go unless their financial demands are met. The club values him at around $20 million, though Barcelona could alternatively trigger his release clause.
Lomónaco has established himself as a key figure at Independiente, appearing in approximately 45 matches and contributing a few goals. Standing at 1.92 meters, he’s strong in aerial battles, composed under pressure, and adept at building play from the back—traits that align with Barcelona’s style of defense.
In short, Barcelona may move for Lomónaco—valued between €12–20 million—if they offload a central defender. But any deal will require complex negotiations between multiple parties.
