Bayern Munich Eyes Barcelona’s Fermín López Amid Financial Crisis and Nico Williams Pursuit

Barcelona is facing a severe financial crisis, forcing the club to make a tough decision—sell one of its brightest young talents to help fund the potential signing of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.

With several major European clubs showing interest, Bayern Munich is leading the race to sign the Catalan star. The German club hopes to rescue the young midfielder from limited playing time, especially as the expected arrival of Nico Williams could push him further down the pecking order.

Bayern Munich is particularly targeting 22-year-old Spanish midfielder Fermín López, who had an outstanding season with Barcelona, contributing significantly to the team’s domestic treble: La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup.

According to a report by Football España, Bayern has recently shown interest in signing Fermín. However, the player is currently determined to stay at Barcelona. Despite past interest from Chelsea, López has consistently prioritized remaining with the Catalan side.

His market value is estimated at €50 million, and his future will likely be decided in the near future given the financial pressures on the club. Fermín López is under contract with Barcelona until June 2029. He has played 88 matches for the senior team, scoring 19 goals and delivering 11 assists.
