Liverpool Fans Warn Real Madrid After Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Shaky Debut Start

Liverpool supporters have sounded a warning to Real Madrid following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s early performance in his debut for the Spanish giants.

The right-back started in Real Madrid’s Club World Cup opener against Al Hilal, after making a high-profile switch from Liverpool. From the kickoff, Al Hilal aggressively attacked down his side, finding some success.

In the 19th minute, a defensive lapse by Alexander-Arnold allowed Renan Lodi to score, though the goal was later ruled out for offside. Despite the disallowed goal, Liverpool fans were quick to react online, suggesting this moment was an early sign of future defensive struggles for their former player.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Real Madrid just got a sample of what defending with Trent looks like. Lucky the flag went up!” Another commented, “That’s exactly what you’re going to get – brilliant going forward, but shaky at the back.”

Some fans simply added, “Get used to it,” or pointed out that he was already caught out of position within 18 minutes.

Despite the defensive criticism, Alexander-Arnold also demonstrated his renowned playmaking ability. He delivered a pinpoint pass that sparked a rapid counter-attack, resulting in a goal finished by Gonzalo Garcia.

He continued to influence the game by moving into central midfield at times, trying to control play.

Al Hilal equalized soon after, with Ruben Neves converting a penalty past Thibaut Courtois.

During halftime analysis, former Champions League winner John Obi Mikel acknowledged that Alexander-Arnold needed to tighten up defensively but praised his attacking contribution
