24-year-old snubs Newcastle and Tottenham in favour of Liverpool switch

Liverpool are in the market for a new centre-back as Jarell Quansah looks set to depart, with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi emerging as their top choice. Reports indicate that Guehi is enthusiastic about a move to Anfield and has prioritized the Premier League champions over other interested clubs.

Quansah is likely to join Bayer Leverkusen in a transfer valued at approximately €40 million, prompting Liverpool to begin identifying a suitable replacement. Guehi has reportedly become their leading candidate.

The 24-year-old, who played a pivotal role in Crystal Palace’s FA Cup run last season, has attracted interest from both Newcastle and Tottenham. However, according to Football Insider, Guehi has privately made it clear that Liverpool is his preferred destination. He is said to have dismissed Newcastle’s advances, believing he belongs at a higher level — the same stance he held last year when the Magpies’ multiple offers were turned down.

Guehi appears ready to reject other suitors in order to push for a transfer to Liverpool, where he would likely compete with Ibrahima Konaté for a place alongside Virgil van Dijk under new head coach Arne Slot. With only a year remaining on his current Palace contract, the Reds could land him for a reduced fee — further aided by the player’s clear preference for Anfield
