Following a disappointing season from Darwin Nunez, Liverpool are actively seeking a new number nine to strengthen their attack. Behind the scenes, the club is working to address this key area.
Although there have been rumors linking the Reds to Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that such a move is highly unlikely at this stage.
Instead, Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike has emerged as a more realistic target for Liverpool this summer.
“Liverpool would be interested in Isak if he became available,” Romano noted. “But right now, I don’t get the sense that a deal is likely. From what I’m hearing, the club also views it as a very difficult transfer to pull off.
“One name I can still link to Liverpool is Hugo Ekitike. If Darwin Nunez leaves—which I believe is probable—and potentially Luis Diaz as well, then Ekitike could be a viable option. Chelsea reached out about him two weeks ago, and Manchester United have recently contacted his representatives. So, Liverpool is definitely in the mix.”
