Manchester United Seal First Summer Signing as Transfer Window Heats Up
Manchester United has officially completed their first signing of the summer transfer window, bringing in a prolific striker who scored 29 goals last season. The forward has signed a six-year contract with the Red Devils.
Meanwhile, Brighton defender Pervis Estupiñán is reportedly eager to join Manchester United this summer. According to journalist Sebastien Vidal, Estupiñán has instructed his representatives to begin negotiating a transfer away from Brighton to make the move happen.
After a dismal 2024/25 season in which United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final, missing out on European competition for 2025/26, new head coach Rúben Amorim is looking to overhaul the squad. While the focus has mainly been on strengthening the attack—evidenced by the signing of Matheus Cunha and ongoing interest in Bryan Mbeumo—reinforcements in defense are also being considered.
United have previously monitored Estupiñán, and sources now say the 27-year-old is very interested in a move to Old Trafford. Though Estupiñán has been described as “phenomenal,” he is reportedly not among United’s top transfer priorities, which could hinder the chances of a deal being finalized.
The club has already secured young Paraguayan left wing-back Diego Leon, who will likely begin with the academy team. Current players like Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, and Harry Amass also provide depth at the wing-back position, potentially reducing the urgency for Estupiñán’s arrival.
