Premier League giants Liverpool have set their sights on acquiring Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, currently one of Europe’s most sought-after l club sees Osimhen as a perfect fit for their attacking setup and a long-term investment in a world-class goal-scorer.
However, Napoli, Osimhen’s current club, remains steadfast in its valuation of the player. The Italian side is standing firm on his £64 million release clause, insisting that any club wishing to secure his services must meet this financial demand.
In an effort to structure a creative deal, Liverpool has reportedly tabled a swap offer involving Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez and Italian winger Federico Chiesa (the latter possibly being part of a broader negotiation, as he’s currently with Juventus but linked in the swap mechanics). The idea behind the proposal is to reduce the financial burden of the transfer by offering player assets instead of paying the full release clause in cash.
However, this offer has not met the expectations of Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is known for driving a hard bargain in the transfer market. According to reports, De Laurentiis is demanding both Núñez and Chiesa, plus an additional £17 million on top, in order to sanction Osimhen’s move to Anfield.
