**Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi** is interested in a move to **Liverpool** this summer — but he has made it clear that he will only join if he’s **guaranteed a regular starting role** in the team.
Guehi, who has been a consistent performer for Palace and is also part of the England national team, does not want to leave a club where he is already a guaranteed starter just to sit on the bench elsewhere. He wants to continue playing **week in, week out**, and unless Liverpool can promise him that, he’s unlikely to accept the move.
### Why Liverpool Want Him
Liverpool are currently making changes in defense. Young defender **Jarell Quansah** is close to joining **Bayer Leverkusen** for around **£34 million**, which creates space in the squad. Guehi is seen as a strong option to fill that gap because of his solid performances in the Premier League.
### The Challenge: Van Dijk and Konaté
The problem is that **Liverpool already have Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté**, two top-quality centre-backs. That means Guehi might not start every game, and that’s something he’s not willing to accept at this point in his career.
### The Transfer Fee
Another issue is the price. **Crystal Palace want around £70 million** for Guehi, although that could drop to about **£45 million** since he has just **one year left on his contract**. Still, that’s a lot of money to spend on a player who might not play every game.
### What Could Happen Next?
Liverpool may wait to see what happens with **Konaté**, who also has one year left on his contract. If he leaves — possibly to **Real Madrid** — the path for Guehi would be clearer.
But for now, unless **Liverpool promise him a regular place in the starting lineup**, Marc Guehi is not ready to make the move — even though he’s very interested in joining the club.
