Goal-Scoring Winger Eager for Liverpool Move Amid Cut-Price Opportunity

Liverpool are looking to further strengthen their attack during the summer transfer window.

Following the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and the soon-to-be-announced Milos Kerkez, the Reds are not done yet with their recruitment drive.

A new striker remains a priority at Anfield, especially with Darwin Nunez’s future uncertain amid reports linking him with a move to Napoli.

Manager Arne Slot is open to bringing in additional reinforcements, including a winger to add more depth and attacking options.

According to Sky Sports Switzerland, one player on Liverpool’s radar is Lyon’s Malick Fofana. The 20-year-old Belgian impressed last season with 11 goals and six assists for the French club.

Given Lyon’s severe financial troubles — worsened by their recent relegation to Ligue 2 after failing to meet financial requirements set by France’s DNCG — Fofana may be available at a reduced price.

Once a powerhouse in French football with seven league titles, Lyon’s sharp decline has forced them into a position where selling players is necessary to stabilize finances.

This situation presents Liverpool with an opportunity to sign the talented winger, who is reportedly keen on a move to Merseyside.

Fofana’s former agency, BF SportsPartner, told The Mirror:
“His heart is set on Liverpool. He has the ability to fit into the squad rotation and could follow in the footsteps of African legends like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and El-Hadji Diouf. His playing style — characterized by pace, creativity, and the ability to make an impact — is well-suited for the Premier League. He has qualities similar to Manchester United’s Amad Diallo.”

With his ability to beat defenders and score from wide areas, Fofana would be a valuable addition to Arne Slot’s squad — and potentially at a bargain fee.
