Manchester United Complete Two Signings as South American Striker Joins Amid Mbeumo Setback
Manchester United have wrapped up two signings and are on the verge of confirming a third as part of their summer plans to bolster both the first team and the youth ranks.
The Red Devils have already made their first senior addition, signing Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5 million transfer.
While negotiations are still ongoing with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo, who remains a top target, manager Ruben Amorim continues to explore other striking options.
But it’s not just about first-team reinforcements — United are also investing in future stars. Three young players are expected to officially join soon.
One of them is Diego Leon, a teenage full-back from Cerro Porteño. The deal was agreed upon in January, but United had to wait until Leon turned 18 in April to complete the move. The Paraguayan has already undergone his medical, and his official unveiling is expected early next month. He’ll sign a five-year contract, with the deal costing £3.2 million initially, possibly rising to £7 million with add-ons.
United have also secured 18-year-old French attacker Enzo Kana-Biyik from Le Havre. The youngster will join on a free transfer once his current contract expires.
The third addition is Harley Emsden-James, a young defender from Southampton. His move will be finalized after his contract ends at the end of the month. Valued at around £1 million in compensation, Southampton will also receive a 20% sell-on clause. Emsden-James, who has represented England at U15 level, will start with the U18s next season and is seen as a highly promising prospect with a clear pathway to the senior squad.
