Official: Manchester United Sign Paraguayan Starlet Diego León
Manchester United are proud to announce the signing of highly promising young defender Diego León, with the transfer subject to the completion of final registration procedures.
León joins the Reds from Cerro Porteño, one of Paraguay’s most prestigious and historic clubs. Despite his tender age, Diego has already demonstrated tremendous potential and maturity beyond his years, amassing 33 first-team appearances and scoring 4 goals in Paraguay’s top division—a remarkable feat for a full-back.
The 18-year-old, who only recently reached the milestone age in April, has also made his mark on the international stage, representing Paraguay at youth level with distinction. Known for his blistering pace, composure in possession, intelligent positioning, and willingness to join the attack, León has been tracked by top European clubs but has chosen Manchester United as the ideal environment to continue his development.
Diego will be integrated carefully into the club’s structure, receiving support from both the first-team coaching staff and the world-renowned Manchester United Academy. This dual-pathway approach will help ensure that he adapts both on and off the pitch as he settles into life in Manchester and adjusts to the demands of English football.
