Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté has reportedly informed Real Madrid of his desire to join them, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri (via Anfield Edition). The French centre-back is said to be willing to wait until 2026 to make the move on a free transfer, following a path similar to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Since arriving at Liverpool in 2021, Konaté has become a key part of the defense alongside Virgil van Dijk, making 132 appearances and winning five major trophies, including the 2024–25 Premier League title. However, with just one year left on his current deal and no renewal in place, he could walk for free next summer.
This comes after Alexander-Arnold allowed his contract to expire and joined Madrid in May 2025 after two decades at Liverpool. Real Madrid recently signed Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen for £50 million, but they are reportedly still interested in bringing Konaté in as a free agent next year.
