Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign veteran striker Jamie Vardy on a free transfer following the expiration of his Leicester City contract at the end of the 2024/25 season, according to The Athletic. The 38-year-old, who has scored 145 Premier League goals in 342 appearances, could serve as a backup option if United offload Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee.
United boss Ruben Amorim already has attacking options including Matheus Cunha, Hojlund, and Zirkzee, which may limit Vardy’s playing time. However, his experience could prove valuable if changes are made up front.
In addition to Vardy, United are exploring other striker options, with names like Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, and Moise Kean linked to the club.
Meanwhile, United face challenges in their pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, with the Bees reportedly demanding over £63 million for the 25-year-old Cameroon international (The Standard). Mbeumo, who has tallied 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 appearances, is frustrated by the situation, especially as his contract runs until 2026—leaving Brentford with a decision to sell now or risk losing him later for free.
Despite these transfer moves, Manchester United’s lack of European football after a 15th-place league finish and Europa League final loss could make attracting top talent more difficult.
