Liverpool Already Have Diaz Replacement in Sight as Barcelona and Bayern Show Strong Interest
Liverpool could be set to part ways with star winger Luis Diaz this summer, despite his key role in last season’s Premier League title win. The Colombian international, under contract until 2027, is reportedly exploring a move away from Anfield.
Barcelona, having failed to land Nico Williams, remain interested in Diaz, although they’re also monitoring Marcus Rashford. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are in the market for attacking reinforcements after Leroy Sané’s departure and Jamal Musiala’s injury setback. German outlet BILD claims Bayern have submitted a £44.8 million offer for Diaz—well below Liverpool’s £69.1 million asking price, as per a reported gentleman’s agreement that would allow the player to leave if that figure is met.
With the transfer window open until early September, a deal is still possible. Diaz impressed last season with 13 goals and 5 assists in the league, and Liverpool are considering their options in case he departs.
Anthony Gordon on Liverpool’s Radar
One name linked with Liverpool is Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United. The 24-year-old, formerly of Everton, has caught the Reds’ attention after helping Newcastle achieve domestic and European success last season.
Known for his high energy and direct style, Gordon averaged 1.2 tackles and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes, making him an ideal fit for Liverpool’s intense system. Newcastle value him at around £100 million, especially after he signed a long-term contract. However, with the Magpies chasing players like Anthony Elanga and Jack Grealish, they may be open to selling Gordon—who reportedly welcomed the idea of returning to Merseyside last year.
Rodrygo an Ideal Fit for Slot’s Style?
Another target is Rodrygo, who could leave Real Madrid following Xabi Alonso’s arrival. While Arsenal are reportedly keen, Liverpool are also monitoring the situation.
Rodrygo’s ability to play across the front line is a big plus. Though primarily a right winger, he’s comfortable centrally or on the left—much like Diaz. His preference for cutting inside from the flanks makes him a good tactical fit under new Liverpool boss Arne Slot, who favors inverted wingers to complement attacking full-backs like Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez.
If Liverpool can convince Rodrygo to choose Anfield over a move to the Emirates, he could become a smart replacement should Diaz depart.
